蔡英文總統這次「英捷專案」過境休士頓時，在8日會見德州州長艾伯特與參議員克魯茲，並與參議員馬侃通電話。克魯茲表示，中國大陸曾要求他及休士頓其他聯邦議員不要與蔡英文會面，但「中華人民共和國（PRC）需要明白，在美國有關與訪客見面，由我們自己決定」。
